Gravestones
Under the East window with its cross, lies the grave stone of Roedolf Wolters, judicial functionary of Anloo. The text reads as follows: 'Anno 1599 den 15 augustus in den heren gerust den erbaren M Roedolf Wolters in sinnen levent schultus tot Anloo-gieten unde sudtlaren Banderschultus in Ostermoer', ('Died on the 15th of August, 1599. Tax Administrator of the villages Gieten, Anloo and Zuidlaren') and a further Latin text: 'corpus eram quondam nunc sum sibne corpore pulvis pulvis at hic tandem denuo corpus erit' which translates as 'Once I had a body, but now I am just dust. Dust it is and one day it shall again be a body'. The Van Vulpen organ currently stands on this stone, obscuring the text.
To the left is located the grave stone of Willem Rudolf Grevylink. The text reads as follows: 'Hier Rust het Lijk Van WILLEM RUDOLF GREEVYLINK. Geboren op het Spijkerboor Denn 13 mey 1782. Wierd Landmeeter den 10 maart 1797 En Lids onder de Commissie Van Landbouw den 7 Febrary 1806. Overleeden den 16 Ocktober 1806. NB. Wordt versogt dit graft Voor het jaar 1907 Niet te Ontrusten'. 'Here lies the body of WILLEM RUDOLF GREEVYLINK. Born on the Spijkerboor, the 13th of May 1782. Became a surveyor on the 10th of March, 1797 and member of the Agricultural Commission on the 7th of February, 1806. Died on the 16th of October, 1806. NB – Please do not disturb this grave before the year 1907'. His father owned a peat bog and built the famous house of Lambertus Grevelink on the Annerveensche canal.
To the right in the quire lies the elegantly decorated memorial stone of Cornelia Rembertina Maria Ellents-van Iddekinge and Wolter Hendrick Ellents. Its text reads as follows: 'Hyr Rust Mevrouw Cornelia Rembertina Maria Ellents geboren van Iddekinge. Overleden den 20 april 1712 in het 23 ste iaer hare's ouderdooms en de heer Wolter Hendrtikkkkck Ellents Raat en Landschrijver van het Landschap Drenthe. Geboren den 7 mey 1683 en overleden djj iuly 1724. In leven Eheluiden'. 'Here Lies Mrs Cornelia Rembertina Maria Ellents, born Van Iddekinge. Died on the 20th of April, 1712 in her 23rd year; and Mr Wolter Henrtikkkkck Ellents, private secretary to the govener of Drenthe. Born on the 7th of May, 1683 and died, July 1724. Husband and Wife'.
